Open Sites Day 2025: experience the site up close

On Sunday 25 May, we open the doors to six impressive construction sites in Flanders. From large-scale renovations to ambitious new builds: at Stadsbader Group, you get a unique behind-the-scenes look at our projects.

The major renovation of the Vilvoorde Viaduct is in full swing. On Open Site Day, visitors can get up close to the work at the foot of the viaduct and discover how welders, scaffolders and other professionals operate. The impressive hanging scaffold and the reinforcement of the steel structure will be explained on site. Although the guided walks inside the viaduct are fully booked, the area below remains freely accessible from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In Antwerp, you can visit two fascinating tunnel sites. On the Left Bank, we take you into the excavation pit of the future Scheldt Tunnel. There, at a depth of 25 metres, we are building the first tunnel section, to which the other immersed elements will be connected. A unique look at a key part of the Oosterweel link.

A little further along, in the Beverentunnel, you’ll discover one of the biggest tunnel renovation projects in Flanders. The structure, technical systems and finishes are all being renewed. A site tour will give you insight into the innovative techniques we’re using to improve safety, comfort and sustainability.

In the heart of Sint-Niklaas, the central square is being completely transformed. The renewed Grote Markt will be greener, more lively and multifunctional, with space for markets, relaxation and events. A guided walk shows you how we are redesigning this meeting place and developing the green zones, water features and infrastructure.

How do you turn a regional road into a full motorway? In Damme, we’ll show you. Follow a 2 km walking trail and discover how the N49 between Damme and the Leopold Canal is being completely overhauled—with separate carriageways, a new tunnel for cars and cyclists, and ecological features.

On the Vives campus in Kortrijk, we’re building ‘The Sky’: a 53-metre-high student tower with 192 rooms. During a guided visit, you’ll reach the tenth floor and get a unique insight into the tower’s construction, building methods and future-oriented design.
