DRASOP BRIDGE HALLE
RENEWAL OF THE DRASOP BRIDGE OVER THE RO AT HALLE
These works aim to demolish the existing bridge of the Drasop over the Brussels Ring R0 at Halle and replace it with a new bridge at the same location. Since August 2019, the bridge of Drasop has been closed to motorized traffic. A truck then caught fire under the bridge and severely damaged one of the steel beams. The new bridge will continue to be aimed primarily at active road users. The design takes into account the local character of the surroundings and the function of the bridge as a smooth and comfortable bicycle connection between Buizingen on the one hand and Dworp on the other. Pedestrians and cyclists will have more space on the new bridge, with two foot and cycle paths each 2.5 metres wide. In the middle of the road is a lane for car drivers of 3 meters wide. There will be traffic lights on either side of the bridge to allow cars to pass through in turn. This also means that the new bridge will be narrower than the current one. In this way we try to avoid a suction effect for stealth traffic.
