Line 51/ Line 51A-City of Bruges (Sint-Pieters-Brugge) Construction of English branch Blauwe Toren Art and bedding works

In this project, the existing underground branch line of the L51 and the L51A near the Blauwe Toren industrial park in Bruges was converted into an underground branch line. This adaptation ensures that rail traffic towards Zeebrugge can run more smoothly as various clashes are avoided. This mainly requires the construction of a new railway viaduct that greatly reduces the number of points.

The railway viaduct BX in this project is a 525m-long viaduct consisting of 21 prefabricated prestressed bridge decks. These are placed on steel piers conceived from Corten steel to reduce maintenance. Besides the railway viaduct, several existing underbridges were also renewed. Four more prefabricated trough girders were installed and two existing girders were renewed. As a result, the entire area was adapted to the latest needs of rail infrastructure in this industrial environment.
