Redevelopment of the Brussels Ring Road between the Machelen and Sint-Stevens-Woluwe interchanges

The Brussels Ring Road is one of the busiest road corridors in Belgium. To improve road safety, traffic flow and quality of life, the ring road will undergo extensive upgrades and modernisation. The client, De Werkvennootschap, identified the northern section as one of its priority areas and appointed the R0Q consortium, which brings together Stadsbader and STADSBADER CONTRACTORS alongside our partners, to deliver this ambitious project.

The project involves redeveloping the northern section of the Brussels Ring Road between the Machelen (E19) and Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (E40) interchanges. This includes constructing a new parallel road system to better separate through traffic from local traffic. We will also upgrade a 7 km stretch of motorway. For active road users, the project provides 6 km of cycling infrastructure and 7 km of new pedestrian paths. More than 70 bridges and tunnels will be built in total. Additional water retention capacity, noise barriers and green infrastructure are also part of the project.

The project is being delivered under a DBFM (Design, Build, Finance & Maintain) contract. This means we are responsible not only for the design, construction and financing, but also for maintaining the infrastructure for thirty years.
