North–South Connection Hasselt - Eindhoven
New North–South Connection between Hasselt and Eindhoven
The North–South connection between Hasselt and Eindhoven has a long history. The existing route runs through the village centres of Houthalen and Helchteren. With traffic volumes on the rise, a limited number of lanes and frequent traffic disruptions, severe congestion and road accidents have been a recurring problem for many years.
As the client, De Werkvennootschap is responsible for tendering two major components of the project. The first involves constructing tunnels beneath the village centres of Houthalen and Helchteren. The second involves developing a route for an electric tram-bus connecting Hasselt with North Limburg.
Together with our partners BESIX, Jan De Nul and Willemen, Stadsbader Group is preparing a strong bid for this DBFM project, which aims to address one of the region’s key mobility challenges. Our approach takes the wider environment into account, including local residents, traffic, businesses, schools, associations and the natural environment.
