Scheldt Tunnel elements Oosterweel

The first Scheldt Tunnel elements are taking shape in Zeebrugge!
What you see are the first two of eight tunnel elements that will form the Scheldt Tunnel in Antwerp . The tunnel is an important element of the Oosterweel Link, as it will close the Antwerp Ring Road on the north side.
The tunnel elements in figures:

• 160 meters long
• 42 meters wide
• 10 meters high
• 60,000 tonnes in weight

When ready, the dry dock will be flooded and the tunnel elements towed to Antwerp where they will be submerged, assembled, and connected to the riverbanks.
