Exceptional weekend in Drongen

We reached an important milestone at the Drongen site! On Deinsesteenweg, we are renovating the bridge over the E40 on behalf of the Roads and Traffic Agency. The old bridge was in poor condition, making renovation necessary. However, Deinsesteenweg is a busy road connecting Baarle and Drongen, which means that the construction period is limited to six months.

Preparatory work began on 31 March, followed by the demolition of the old bridge on 12 April. The abutments are now complete, allowing us to carry out one of the most eye-catching operations: the installation of nine prefab bridge girders. We installed these 43-metre-long, 117-tonne girders during a night-time closure of the E40 motorway. To do this, we used two mobile telescopic cranes with capacities of 650 and 700 tonnes.
