Cycling and Pedestrian Bridge Tijarm in Concreting Phase

A significant milestone for our Tijarm site, where we poured concrete for the new cycling and pedestrian bridge. This integral bridge spans the Tijarm, a tributary of the Scheldt, connecting the left and right banks in Merelbeke. The result is a smooth connection for cyclists and pedestrians, shortening certain routes by as much as two kilometers.

The sleek bridge, made of exposed concrete, is 7 meters wide and stretches an impressive 88.5 meters in length. We successfully poured the bridge, requiring approximately 270 m³ of concrete, in a single day. To achieve this, we deployed two concrete pumps with pouring lengths of 42 meters and 55 meters, respectively. In the next phase, the bridge will be post-tensioned, and the adjacent approach slabs will be concreted.
